Breacher

The Breacher is a specialized billet within MSOT 8213 – Task Force Raven. Breachers are responsible for providing the team with entry capabilities, whether through explosive, mechanical, or ballistic means. Using the Breach – Rewrite mod, they ensure the MSOT can defeat locked or fortified structures in support of direct action operations.


Responsibilities

  • Serve as the team’s primary expert in breaching operations.
  • Select and employ the proper breaching method (explosive, mechanical, ballistic).
  • Maintain breaching charges, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure safe standoff and control during explosive breaching.
  • Train Critical Skills Operators (CSOs) in assisting roles (security, stacking, handling tools).
  • Advise leadership on entry options during mission planning.

Training Required

  • Successful completion of ITC
  • Completion of the Breacher Training Course
  • Familiarity with Breach – Rewrite mechanics:
    • Charge placement and orientation
    • Blast effects and safe distances
    • Tool use for mechanical entry
    • Ballistic breaching with shotguns

Skills & Capabilities

  • Proficiency in charge construction and placement using Breach – Rewrite.
  • Knowledge of safe standoff distances and overpressure effects.
  • Familiarity with breaching shotguns and ballistic entry.
  • Competence with mechanical entry tools (ram, bolt cutters, halligan).
  • Ability to integrate breaching into CQB flow.
  • Coordination with Element Leader and CQB stack for synchronized entry.

Equipment

The Breacher carries standard CSO equipment and is additionally equipped with:

  • Explosive breaching charges (flex linear, door charges, frame charges).
  • Mechanical tools (sledgehammer).
  • Breaching shotgun (ballistic entry).
  • Firing device or initiation system (as required by scenario).
  • Extra demo supplies for resupply and redundancy.

Advancement

Breachers may advance to:

  • Senior Breacher roles within the MSOT
  • Training cadre for future Breachers
  • Integration with sniper/recce elements for target support (demolitions focus)

The Breacher provides the MSOT with the ability to rapidly and decisively enter fortified or denied spaces. By mastering the Breach – Rewrite system, the Breacher ensures Task Force Raven maintains the initiative in close-quarters battle.
