Roles & Billets
This page outlines the billets available within MSOT 8213 – Task Force Raven. Each billet represents a specialized role within the team, modeled as closely as possible on real-world MARSOC doctrine.
All new members begin as Critical Skills Operators (CSOs) after completing ITC. Additional billets are assigned based on performance, unit needs, and completion of specialized training.
Headquarters Element (Team Command)
- Team Leader (O-3, Captain)
- Overall command of the MSOT. Responsible for mission planning, leadership, and coordination with higher command.
- Team Chief (E-8, Master Sergeant)
- Senior enlisted advisor. Responsible for discipline, standards, and overseeing training and operations.
- Operations SNCO (E-7, Gunnery Sergeant)
- Manages planning, logistics, and operations oversight. Assists Team Leader and Team Chief.
Element Leaders & Core Operators
- Element Leader (E-6, Staff Sergeant)
- Leads an MSOT element (half team). Responsible for mission execution and direct leadership of CSOs.
- Critical Skills Operator (CSO) (E-4 to E-5, Corporal–Sergeant)
- The backbone of the MSOT. Trained in all basic Raider skills. Can specialize in additional billets after ITC.
Specialized Billets
- Radio Operator (RO)
- Communications specialist. Manages radios, satellite comms, and requests for fire/CAS. Requires advanced communications training.
- SARC (Special Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsman)
- Navy Corpsman embedded with the team. Provides advanced medical care and casualty evacuation coordination. Requires TCCC advanced training.
- Breacher
- Responsible for explosive, ballistic, and mechanical breaching. Trains in charge placement and entry tactics.
- Designated Marksman (DM)
- Provides precision fire and overwatch within the team. Equipped with enhanced optics and DMR platforms.
- JTAC (Joint Terminal Attack Controller)
- Qualified to coordinate close air support (CAS) and deconflict air/ground fires. May be filled by an RO or Element Leader with additional training.
- Sniper/Recce
- Specializes in long-range reconnaissance, surveillance, and precision engagement. Typically assigned in pairs.
- EOD/Engineer Support
- Manages explosives, demolitions, and counter-IED tasks. Optional billet depending on mission needs.
- Mobility/Vehicle Operator
- Responsible for team mobility assets (MRZR, GMV). Ensures convoy discipline and vehicle maintenance.
Billet Assignment
- All members graduate ITC as CSOs.
- Billets are assigned based on:
- Unit needs
- Candidate performance in ITC
- Candidate preference
- Completion of specialized billet training.
